The Lubin Residence- Sitka, Alaska

The Lubin Residence is designed for Mr Lubin, a naturalist and botanist by profession, who is interested in a simple house that accommodates his desire to be connected with the site’s beautiful natural surroundings, and would allow him to gracefully age in place. The south facing house is designed with a dominate roof form suggesting a well made, low maintenance shelter from the harsh Alaskan elements. We like to think of the house as “a dwelling for connection” to the natural world, framing dramatic views both distant and close in, highlighting and capturing sounds of the sea and its beautiful ever changing reflected light.

Client Testimonial :

“I've had the extraordinary privilege to work with Mr. Simpson on a small contemporary home that I plan to build here on our beautiful, serene, south-facing cove in Sitka, Alaska. Mr. Simpson was recommended to us as a rare practitioner of form, function, and creativity; he has not disappointed... in fact, we have been absolutely delighted with the process! Working with him, both on the site and over Zoom has been stress-free, and really such a pleasure. He is not only a master at his craft but also a true gentleman! I recommend him highly for whatever architectural project you may have.”
